Sporting, elegant and meeting all the demands of professional diver’s watches, they symbolise the union between the aquatic world and the feminine universe. They feature a unidirectional rotating bezel as well as the Jaeger-LeCoultre compression keys guaranteeing perfect water resistance. They offer a choice between two unusual automatic complications in the feminine Master Compressor collection: a second time-zone display or a chronograph function. And as Jaeger-LeCoultre can never dissociate exceptional watchmaking achievements from the perfection of elegant designs, the Master Compressor Diving Lady radiate a distinctively glamorous appeal inspired by maritime depths.

Master Compressor Diving GMT Lady

This watch features two different variations: in a polished steel edition with guilloché dial and white/turquoise colour coding; and in pink gold with white/silvery colour coding. The central trapeze-shaped hands indicate the hours and minutes, whereas the time in the second time zone appears in a subdial at 9 o’clock adorned with a wind rose. Just opposite, at 3 o’clock, a sector enables one to read off the date shown on a pivoting disc featuring the same alternating colours as on the luminescent movement operating indicator. Driven by the Jaeger-LeCoultre Calibre 917D movement beating at 28,800 vibrations per hour, the Master Compressor diving GMT Lady is endowed with a 48-hour power reserve.

Master Compressor Diving Chronograph Lady

Equipped with Calibre 751D with a 65-hour power reserve, the Master Compressor Diving Chronograph Lady is fitted with a Jaeger-LeCoultre diving bezel set with diamonds and featuring characteristic touches of colour for the first 15 minutes of dive time. The hours and minutes as well as the chronograph seconds are indicated by central hands, whereas the other chronograph functions are displayed in two subdials: an hour counter at 9 o’clock and a 30- minute counter at 3 o’clock complete with the two-tone wind rose which is the signature feature of the Master Compressor Diving Line. The date appears through an aperture between 4 and 5 o’clock on a disc bearing turquoise transferred numerals against a white background.

The two new Master Compressor Diving Lady watches are sports watches in the fullest sense of the term. They provide eloquent proof that a highly technical instrument may also be an exquisitely elegant piece of jewellery that inevitably becomes an indispensable companion in discovering far-flung horizons and ocean depths.

Boucheron’s Bestiary Tourbillon

Boucheron, Orologi Prestigiosi No Comments »

The mixture of fauna and flora that is the Boucheron bestiary has been brought together again. In their own fusion, these new creations embody the watch-making magic that the House, founded in 1858 and the first open up a boutique on place Vendome, has made its specialty.

In a whirlwind of life, this metaphorical animal trilogy with its savagely propitiatory character explores the jewel making fantasies of a brand that has always been associated with watch-making. Each of the creations in this new collection has to be seen as the contemporary extrapolation of the chatelaine watch presented by Boucheron at the Paris Universal Exhibition in 1876, in which it won the gold medal.

Combining visual and material perfection by uniting the very best in watch-making with jewelry, all under the watchful eye of the animal kingdom, what an unusual and exciting way of transforming time into a whimsical accomplice. This stunning collection, which comes in two different versions and in a very limited series of 8 pieces in order to emphasize its symbolic value, each feature one the three animals most closely associated with Boucheron grasping hold of a watch, each handmade in white gold, claiming it their own. These fascinating and precious creatures, which seem to have escaped from a rainforest painted by Max Ernst or Rousseau, hold tightly onto a lightweight tourbillon frame, the slightly off-center position of which attracts the viewer’s attention.

These fine sculptures, all crimped by hand by the master jewelers of the Maison Boucheron, attached to the watch case serve to focus the attention on to the technical jewel they guard so jealously. Once this fascinating wildlife, born of the creativity of the firm’s craftsmen, that includes a chameleon and a frog, has been tamed by your gaze, a tourbillon is revealed, the mobile carriage of which has been fashioned such that it looks like a trellis on which precious foliage is growing, set with diamonds, materializing the circular passing of seconds in delightfully poetic fashion. Time itself appears contingent and is set off-center and opposite the opening in the watch face, so that the hypnotic frame looks as if it is levitating. The most astonishing aspect of this dreamlike construction is that nature, captured in a bejeweled instant, seems to have frozen in time before the butterfly formed by the hour and minute hands is swallowed up by the animal on guard.

The mechanical caliber is manually wound caliber, visible through the watch’s transparent bottom. In addition to the tourbillon at the center of which can be seen a balance, taking its inspiration from marine chronometers used during the age of discovery, the movement includes bridges designed such that the picture of the animal sculpted in the round on the watch bezel, is reproduced as a silhouette on the metal. And last of all, the ticking which can be heard from the heart of the watch gives a unique dimension to this wrist-worn shadow, which seems to breathe with life.

Vacheron Constantin Kalla Power Reserve Moonphase

Part of Vacheron Constantin’s Métiers d’Art Collection, Kalla is where precious matter and even more precious time come together. These truly exceptional timepieces wed the finest of the watchmaker’s to the best of the jeweller’s art. Flawless diamonds, mechanical movements and precious metals form the breathtaking, aptly named compositions of the Kalla collection. Invariably exclusive and occasionally one-of-a-kind, they turn every single instant into a world of pure pleasure.

Since Vacheron Constantin created its first high jewellery wristwatches at the end of 19th century and more recently in 1979 with its legendary Kallista*, a true masterpiece and the unequivocal benchmark in the marriage between Haute Horlogerie and High Jewellery, the world’s oldest manufacture has acquired the reputation of virtuosity in this field and continued to present worthy heirs like the Kalla Duchesse in 2006 and now the Kalla Lune.

Infused with the creative spirit so preciously nurtured at Vacheron Constantin and embodying the talent of watch and jewellery craftsmen who are masters of a traditional savoir-faire passed down over 250 years, the Kalla Lune, with its instantly recognizable design and setting, is dedicated to the creation of a different style, one that is distinguished, dazzling and architectural.

Reflecting desires that are beyond fashion, this model is resolutely contemporary. Its strength lies in the interplay between seduction and emotion, elegance and style. Its round shape, subtle and intense and suitable for both men and women, embodies the perfect union and is an expression of the abiding link between the Métiers d’Art watchwakers and gem-setters at Vacheron Constantin.

Thus, all Vacheron Constantin’s craftsmen - from goldsmiths to jewel-setters, from watchmakers to engravers – are motivated to raise their art to a supreme level of refinement. Inspired by the confidence of demanding customers, they create exceptional and precious watches in the grandest tradition of Haute Horlogerie and High Jewellery, like the Kalla Lune.

Kalla Lune Large Model: a total of 816 baguette-cut diamonds, 23 brilliant-cut diamonds and 1 rose-cut diamond for the crown, for an approximate total weight of 42.61 carats.  A simple but fixed rule was decreed when setting this watch: each set of diamonds had to conform to the most stringent criteria regarding purity, colour and cut, to guarantee perfect harmonization.

There are 134 diamonds weighing 9.33 carats or 7.86 carats depending on the size. Each stone is hand-cut and hand-set to marry perfectly with the case.

In sparkling harmony with the patient work carried out on the case is the sumptuous diamond-paved dial. The large model is paved with 170 baguette-cut diamonds (2.82 carats) and the small model with a white, pink and blue mosaic of 141 brilliants (0.36 carat). In both models, the crown is set with a rose-cut diamond.

To bring this high jewellery masterpiece to life, Vacheron Constantin has fitted it with a manufactory-made movement, the calibre 1410, featuring power reserve and moon phase indicators. It is 100% hand-finished and hand-decorated, and is stamped with the prestigious Geneva Hallmark.

Set with 512 (30.33 carats) or 472 (24.12 carats) baguette-cut diamonds depending on the size, the Kalla Lune’s 18K white gold bracelet marries perfectly the wrist. Thanks to this technical feat, the bracelet seems to flow around the wrist. The model also comes on a black alligator leather strap adorned with a white gold folding clasp with a Maltese cross set with 8 baguette diamonds (0.38 carat).

Fifty Fathoms Automatique white dial

Blancpain, Orologi Prestigiosi No Comments »

In a successful attempt to pay tribute to the first modern diver’s watch introduced in 1953, Blancpain has created a brand-new Fifty Fathoms Automatique watch radiating with understated elegance. The timepiece, a startling contrast to its black predecessors, reveals an immaculate white exterior with a powerful sporty appeal.

The new Blancpain purely white interpretation of its instantly-recognizable Fifty Fathoms makes one feel its distinctively innovative spirit. The white unidirectional rotating bezel crafted in scratch-resistant sapphire keeps the watch’s owner away from accidentally prolonging the dive time. The slightly raised and ratcheted design of the bezel is developed to limit any potential shocks.

The 45 mm-diameter steel case of the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms Automatique watch is fitted with crown guards to guarantee enhanced security of the construction. The matt white dial background is completed with trapeze-shaped hour-markers and hands in rhodium-plated gold with applied luminescent coating. The bezel of the watch is provided the pearly grey Luminova markings revealing their fluorescent green color only in the ocean-depths darkness.

In the heart of the white Fifty Fathoms Automatique there beats a self-winding Calibre 1315, a Blancpain in-house mechanical movement developed exquisitely for timepieces with a resolutely sporting vocation. Based on the concept of utmost simplicity, accuracy and performance, Calibre 1315 is designed to ensure peerless accuracy and rating efficiency. The mechanism is equipped with three series-coupled barrels to offer an advantage of a 5-day power reserve, providing a sturdy supply of energy at all times.

The sapphire crystal case back of the new Blancpain Fifty Fathoms displays the beauty and complex nature of the movement composed of 222 parts. The timepiece boasts 300-meter water-resistance.

Blancpain self-winding Calibre 1315 reveals perfect finishing. The large rubies are driven directly into the bridges and plates, maintaining the amazing visual magic of a traditional movement. The oscillating weight specially designed for the purely white model spotlights a nautilus motif.

The new Blancpain watch is coupled with a sporty and water-resistant rubber-lined white sail canvas strap equipped with a pin buckle.

The Blancpain Fifty Fathoms collections holds plenty of surprises for avid fans of the brand - it will soon be enlarged with new models created in new colors and featuring luxurious finishes, to please devotees of fine mechanical watchmaking.

The original model of the Blancpain Fifty Fathoms watch, developed to withstand the extreme conditions of military underwater missions, appeared in 1953, following the encounter between Blancpain and Captain ‘Bob’ Maloubier and his lieutenant Claude Riffaud. The officers were commissioned by the French Ministry of Defence to form an elite unit of ‘Combat Divers’ to be supplied with reliable timekeepers.

The timepiece guaranteed water-resistance to 50 fathoms (91.45 meters), the depth that suggested name of the mechanical masterpiece. In short period of time, Blancpain Fifty Fathoms earned a reputation for remarkable reliability and sturdiness. The model gained the status of the archetypal modern diver’s watch.

In 2007, Blancpain unveiled a whole collection of watches that inherited the DNA of the iconic timekeeping instrument. Along with the Automatique model, the collection comprises a flyback chronograph model and a majestic flying tourbillon. All three Fifty Fathoms models guarantee 300-meter water-resistance.
