Equipped with a perpetual calendar the Romvlvs Perpetual Calendar is also distinguished by the finishing of its CO-183 automatic movement. Housed in an 18-karat red gold case, this exclusive movement is entirely openworked and decorated by hand. Only 25 in all will be issued.

Openworked beauty and Haute Horlogerie

Thanks to its automatic CO-183 movement that mechanically programs the passing of time, the latest newcomer to the Romvlvs collection provides a complete display of the date, the day of the week, the month and the moon phases – and will continue to do so up until the year 2100 with no need for any adjustments. Once this date has been reached, a correction performed by a professional will ensure another full century of precision. The ultra-complex perpetual calendar mechanism indicates the date by means of a set of gear trains and cams taking account of the differences between 30 and 31-day months, and also handling the variable length of February according to the leap-year cycle. A paragon of slender elegance, the CO-183 movement is one of the thinnest in the world to offer these sophisticated functions.

All the parts are hand-crafted and decorated to create a skeletonized. To ensure the overall harmony of this creation, Corum has adopted a scrolling wreath shape that is systematically repeated on all the main parts. Remarkable care has been lavished on the oscillating weight. Crafted in 18-karat white gold, it carries the Corum brand name that appears to be literally floating in mid-air. The signature key logo is also featured. Meanwhile, the mainplate and bridges are beveled, engraved by hand and rhodium-plated.

The clover-leaf of time

While the guilloché-worked dial is a distinctive feature of the collection, the Romvlvs Perpetual Calendar is adorned with a sunburst guilloché motif. In all, four tiny subdials arranged in a cross shape display the full range of perpetual calendar indications. The month and leap-year indications appear at 12 o’clock, the date at 3 o’clock and the day at 9 o’clock. The phases of the moon are displayed at 6 o’clock, along with the Corum key and name in shining gold lettering. The hands and the clover-shaped appliqué surrounding the four subdials are also clothed in the same precious metal. Hinting at the complexity of the movement, the two subdials at 3 and 9 o’clock are graced with a central sapphire lens partially revealing the heart of the watch.

Corum has chosen a 41 mm-diameter case that is polished and topped by a satin-brushed version of the collection’s distinctive bezel. Equipped with a sapphire crystal case-back secured by six screws, it is fitted with a fluted crown engraved with a raised key symbol. The Romvlvs Perpetual Calendar comes on a black crocodile leather strap complete with an 18-karat red gold buckle.

Corum Admiral

Corum, Orologi Prestigiosi No Comments »

Corum has consistently cultivated the art of marrying precision, elegance and technology. This know-how is pushed to new extremes with its self-winding split-second chronograph in 18kt red gold, vulcanized rubber and carbon.

The Admiral’s Cup Challenge 44 Split-Second masters time

At its heart beats the tried and tested 13 ¼’’’ CO-986 movement. Thanks to its split-second function, this 31-jewel chronograph caliber with a balance oscillating at 28,800 vibrations per hour enables smooth and easy measurement of several split times. Whether to keep track of opponents in a regatta or of one’s position on a map or chart (using the method of several successive plottings at the same seamark), the Admiral’s Cup Challenge 44 Split-Second is designed to meet the need.

The epitome of tradition and harmony

With its famous twelve-sided case and vulcanized rubber guard protecting a screw-lock crown engraved with the CORUM key, this red gold model is part of a maritime world built on the past and looking firmly to the future. The black lacquered dial is adorned with distinctive nautical pennants around the flange. The red-rimmed chevron-style hour-markers are filled with a luminescent substance. The carbon bezel echoes the high level of technology prevalent on state-of-the-art sailboats. This same material is used on the three lever-shaped pushers that activate the functions of this exceptional chronograph: the two traditional pushers at 2 and 4 o’clock, perfectly centered on the lugs, and the one controlling the red lacquered split-second hand, at 8:30. The ultra-modern materials, vulcanized rubber and carbon, are modern symbols of technical sophistication. Their resistance to the elements is time-honored and CORUM utilizes them with great skill.

In the dark… everything lights up

With its three counters – minutes at 3 o’clock, hours at 6 o’clock and small seconds at 9 o’clock – featuring an applied solid gold rim; its luminescent-coated hour and minute hands and hour-markers; and its red lacquered split-second hand, the dial offers striking contrasts that greatly enhance its readability.

License to wear

A hand-sewn crocodile leather strap, complete with CORUM’s exclusive 18kt red gold mechanically fastening folding clasp, holds this unique timepiece firmly to the wrist. The center of the vulcanized rubber-coated caseback bears the Admiral’s Cup likeness stamped in 18kt red gold. It combines an extremely comfortable fit with a rugged reliability most worthy of this top-of-the-line chronograph.

CORUM ADMIRAL´S CUP TIDES 48

Corum, Orologi Prestigiosi No Comments »

The Corum Admiral’s Cup Competition 48 watch is an impressive new addition to Corum’s famous Admiral’s Cup line of luxury sports timepieces.  Inspired by the famous yacht race of the same name, this boldly-sized Corum watch combines a striking geometric design, fine craftsmanship and materials, and a robust yet extremely precise selfwinding mechanical movement.  The case of the Corum Admiral’s Cup Competition 48 watch is crafted from lightweight yet extremely strong titanium; measuring 48mm in diameter, this timepiece is a confident statement of unquestionably sporty style and its angles suggest the distinctive keel designs of modern yachts.

The crown of the Corum Admiral’s Cup Competition 48 watch screws down firmly, and when combined with the screw-locked caseback ensures water resistance to a sea-worthy 300 meters.   This robust, stylish case is excellent protection for the precise movement which Corum has chosen to animate this watch.

The Corum Admiral’s Cup Competition 48 watch utilizes a precise selfwinding movement, which is based upon the excellent and time-proven Valjoux 7750 Chronograph movement.  Exclusively modified for Corum, this movement supports a subsidiary seconds indicator, and a display for day of the week and the date.  Each of these movements has undergone a 15-day examination by the Controle Officiel Suisse des Chronometres (COSC); having passed all of these exacting tests which evaluate precision under a range of temperature and position changes, each movement has earned the prestigious title of Chronometer.

The Corum Admiral’s Cup Competition 48 watch is distinguished by its extremely distinctive dial, which bears a series of nautical penants on its concave rehaut, a characteristic of the Admiral’s Cup watch collection; the subsidiary seconds subdial is also decorated with a design that is reminiscent of a mariners compass.  Enhanced by bold hour indexes and broad hands, this Corum timepiece is exceptionally legible; thanks to the generous applications of luminous material, this legibility is equally impressive in low light or even total darkness.

The Corum Admiral’s Cup Competition 48 watch is produced in solid titanium, or a striking version which is accented by a polished 18K rose gold bezel and crown; both versions are offered with either a black or a royal blue dial, with matching crown guard elements.  Each Corum Admiral’s Cup Competition 48 watch is joined to its owners wrist by an exceptionally supple rubber strap which is completed by a distinctively large and expressive titanium buckle decorated with the Corum insignia.

CORUM CLASSICAL BILLIONAIRE TOURBILLON

Corum, Orologi Prestigiosi No Comments »

Sometimes bigger is better…or at least more desirable according to an article in Newsweek this month. Women are starting to embrace larger timepieces then the classically smaller wristwatches from the past. One of the watch companies embracing this is Corum. They have the Classical Billionaire Tourbillon that measures 46mm (pictured here). Who wouldn’t want this watch! And, the trend just seems to be getting larger, even to the point of taking up the whole wrist. Quite a few watch designers are listening and making changes accordingly.

For instance Michele Watches has their Extreme Fleur that measures 39mm, Philip Stein wristwatches have some measuring up to 40mm in width and Chopard even has one of their Happy Diamonds wristwatch that measures 40mm. A lot of the time women are wearing the traditional men’s watches when the ladies versions do not come up to par. I actually didn’t realize how far the trend had progressed until I started talking to the ladies I work with and more than half were wearing larger watches and about half of them were wearing men’s watches!

So, watch out boys, we have taken your dress shirts and your boxers….now we might might be eyeing your watch.
