The iconic Tag Heuer Grand Carrera collection has been joined by a new, exceptional watch inspired by modern GT cars. The peculiarity of the watch is its distinctive chronograph display with rotating discs to feature elapsed time.

As hinted by the name, the Grand Carrera Calibre 17 Pink Gold Chronograph is crafted in luxurious 18K rose gold. The creators of the new Tag Heuer Grand Carrera have opted for the use of 18K gold to underscore the prestige of the model. The timepiece will be available in a limited edition of 1000 pieces.

The Tag Heuer watch encompasses the following functions - hours, minutes, seconds, date, chronograph with double rotating system, and tachometer scale. The functions are provided by the TAG Heuer 17 RS Calibre, a self-winding chronograph movement crowned by the prestigious COSC-chronometer-certification.

The TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Calibre 17 Pink Gold Chronograph has been developed in two versions: the first version with an elegant silver dial, and the second one with a tasteful brown dial (500 pieces in each dial color).

Both versions will spotlight framed chronograph dials with Cotes-de-Geneve-pattern decoration. The dial is completed with applied curved and facetted 18k-pink-gold hour-markers. The date window is positioned at 6 o’clock.

The satin-finished and polished 18K pink gold case of the Grand Carrera Calibre 17 Pink Gold Chronograph watch measures 43 mm in diameter. The construction of the model has incorporated screw-down push-pieces and crown also in 18K pink gold, as well as convex sapphire crystal with anti-reflective treatment on both sides.

The double sapphire back is engraved with the piece’s individual number. The model boasts 100-meter water-resistance. The Tag Heuer watch goes on a hand-sewn alligator leather strap fitted with the 18K gold buckle.

Grand Carrera Calibre 36 RS Caliper Concept by TAG Heuer

The TAG Heuer Grand Carrera Calibre 36 RS Caliper Concept is quite an impressive concept. Featuring a world first, the Grand Carrera Calibre 36 RS is the only automatic chronograph capable of measuring and displaying 1/10ths of a second. A COSC-certified movement oscillates at a ultra high 36,000 vibrations per hour (vph), allowing the watch to measure 1/10th second intervals.

The Calibre 36 RS is housed in a 43 mm in diameter case which has a black titanium carbide coating. There are “black gold” accents all over the dial of the watch including the indexes, TAG Heuer logo and the hands. The two rotating systems indicating the chronograph minutes at 3 o’clock and the chronograph hours at 6 o’clock systems also use black gold. The watch also features a Linear seconds display a 9 o’clock.

Another innovative design element is the way the watch displays the information. TAG Heuer developed an exclusive Rotating scale that permits precise reading of 1/10th of a second, just watch the video, and you will see what I am talking about.

This concept watch is so exclusive that the design is featured on the dashboard of the limited edition Ken Okuyama designed K.O.7 sportscar, that was on display at the TAG booth this year at Baselworld. After seeing Ken’s new design in person at Basel I was not surprised to read that he is the one who designed the famous Ferrari Enzo.

To add to the sporty automotive inspired design of the watch they added a caliper to the dial, which connects to the hour and minute counters at 3 and 6 o’clock. They even perforated the strap, to add to the sporty design.

The racing inspired “black gold” accented, ultra high precision 36,000 VPH COSC-certified 1/10th second chronograph, is by far one of the best looking TAG Heuer watches I’ve seen.

TAG HEUER SLR FOR MERCEDES-BENZ

After the incredible success of the first “SLR Chronograph by TAG Heuer” Calibre 36-R at Baselworld 2004, TAG Heuer proudly launches the “TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz”, an exceptional new piece of watchmaking prowess.

Destined for fans of exclusive automobiles and connoisseurs of high-end timepieces, the new SLR chronograph celebrates the long and fruitful alliance between TAG Heuer, McLaren and Mercedes-Benz.

Like the high-performance, luxury sports car that inspired it, the “TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz” is an audacious creation, blending classicism and Avant-Garde, with an overall design that reflects the values of the “dream car”: power, performance, motor-racing spirit, innovation and elegance.

Launched in a limited edition of 3,500 pieces, its pushbuttons are boldly positioned on the top of the case, ergonomically inclined at 45 degrees; a timekeeping scale is audaciously placed inside the case on a rotating, mechanic, unidirectional ring driven by a second crown at 9 o’clock. The exterior bezel is thus able to feature a tachymeter, like those used by professional racers to calculate speed.

To accentuate these innovations even further, the dial features superbly high-end finishings: ten double index diamond facets have been applied by hand one-by-one; two rhodium-plated rings elegantly circle the counters at 3 and 9 o’clock; and the hands have been diamond-tipped by hand.

The names of the two prestigious brands – “TAG Heuer” and “Mercedes-Benz” – discreetly adorn the dial in silver at 12 o’clock. The chronograph’s classic alligator bracelet is boldly integrated inside the case, thus allowing for a perfectly streamlined profile on the wrist. The bracelet also features a safety buckle operated by pushbuttons and engraved with “SLR”.

A strong design (43mm diameter) for a powerful automobile, the “TAG Heuer SLR for Mercedes-Benz” is reserved for admirers of the world’s most exclusive timepieces.
